September 2007 Mayor's Dashboard Demonstration Website for the City of Detroit
This website was developed with data sets provided by the City of Detroit's 311 Call Center to demonstrate how data owners can use real-time editing tools to map and manage critical neighborhood data related to 1) Burned-out Street Lights 2) Dangerous Buildings and 3) Illegal Dump Sites. The Mayor's Dashboard can be viewed at http://geodata.acad.emich.edu/mayordashboard

In addition to the editing tools, this site deploys the SEMCOG full-color aerials and Pictometry oblique imagery flown in 2005. The site also hosts the 2005 land parcels for Detroit along with other interesting data sets. For more information on these ArcIMS editing functions please contact Mike Dueweke at 734 487-8487.

January 2006 NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION ? LL-MAP PROJECT
Helen Aristar-Dry and Verónica Grondona of English Language and Literature and Yichun Xie, Director of IGRE, received a grant from the National Science Foundation to implement LL-MAP: Language and Location, a Map Annotation Project.

“This project will provide information about how language boundaries and relationships can provide critical insights into the genetics, culture, migrations, and interactions of populations,?says Aristar-Dry, Principal Investigator. “When such language information is combined with topographic, political, demographic, and historical data, it can spark advances in the social sciences. That's where GIS comes in. It integrates language information with extensive data from the physical and social sciences.?br>
The project has developed a major database of geospatially referenced information about existing languages and integrates them into it a database of genetic relationships among languages. The LL-MAP site can be viewed at http://llmap.org/
