The Institute for Geospatial Research & Education at Eastern Michigan University created the Drain District Mapping Tools because existing CAD and GIS tools were not designed to convert Public Land Survey System legal descriptions into digital parcel shapes. The IGRE Drain District Mapping Toolkit is an extension for use with ArcView 8 and ArcGIS 8.x and 9 platforms. We wish to acknowledge and thank Mr. Brian Jonckheere, Drain Commissioner, Livingston County, Michigan, and his staff along with Ms. Dawn Siegel, Livingston County GIS Manager for their thoughtful insights into the functionality needed to create such a useful toolset. Without their "real-world" experience and recommendations, the creation of these tools would not have been possible.
